Red Hawk Casino is planning to expand even further after breaking ground on a new hotel this week.

The casino announced on Tuesday that it had broken ground on its first expansion since the casino opened in 2008.

The hotel has been in the works for a long time. The plan the Shingle Springs Band of Miwok Indians originally submitted for environmental approval to build the casino included a hotel.
