Elk Grove casino breaks ground, with hotel plans on hold

Sacramento County’s first tribal casino, sans a previously planned hotel, is one big step closer to opening.

The Elk Grove area’s Wilton Rancheria and Las Vegas-based Boyd Gaming Corp. broke ground on the Sky River Casino Tuesday.

“This day belongs to not one person,” said Wilton Rancheria Chair Jesus Tarango, at the ceremony. “This day belongs to all our people.”
