Foes of Redding Rancheria casino-resort will again address the City Council on Tuesday

A community group that says it represents a coalition of property owners and local businesses that oppose a new gambling and entertainment resort proposed by the Redding Rancheria will address the Redding City Council on Tuesday.

Among the property owners in opposition of the project are Archie Aldis "Red" Emmerson, founder of timber firm Sierra Pacific Industries, and his wife, Maria. Their home and 500-acre ranch are adjacent to the land where the tribe wants to build its new gambling-resort complex. Located just south of Redding near the Sacramento River, that area is now mostly undeveloped and zoned for agricultural use.
