Redding Mayor Julie Winter used the bully pulpit of the 32nd annual State of the City address to issue an apology this week to Native Americans for the many atrocities perpetrated on their ancestors in the North State.

The approximately 10-minute closing segment of the larger program was delivered before about 850 of the city's movers and shakers, who also heard details of the city's advances during the past year.
