On some future NFL Sunday, Californians could say this while placing a bet: “I’ll put $20 on the Niners to win ... and that’s how I helped the homeless today.”

Californians could be looking at three ballot measures next year that would expand legal betting in the state. At least two of them would use taxes generated from bets for homeless services.
