AB 880 (Gray, Chapter 801, Statutes of 2018) Tribal Nation Grant Fund. WEB SITE: http://www.tngf.ca.gov/ Existing law establishes the Tribal Nation Grant Fund; this bill establishes a programmatic framework for the Tribal Nation Grant Program and defines the roles and responsibilities of various entities that establish and implement the program. Specifically, this bill: 1) establishes the Tribal Nation Grant Panel (Panel) and the office of the Governor's Tribal Advisor (Advisor); 2) requires the Advisor to appoint members of the Panel by January 1, 2020; 2) requires the Panel to award grants and comply with the Bagley-Keene Open Meeting Act; 3) requires the California Gambling Control Commission (Commission) to act as the limited trustee and provide numerous administrative support services to the Panel; 4) specifies the authorized uses of grant funds; 5) requires grants to be awarded to eligible tribes on a competitive grant application basis; 6) authorizes the Bureau of Gambling Control within the Department of Justice to conduct audits on the use of grant funds; and, 7) establishes annual reporting requirements for the Commission and the Panel beginning July 15, 2020, among other provisions.
