In total, the State of California has signed and ratified Tribal State Gaming Compacts with 70 tribes. The National Indian Gaming Commission is required to license casino facilities and currently has licensed 69 in California. The licenses include satellite slot arcades in gas stations and bowling alleys on tribal lands as well as class II operations which do not require a Tribal State Compact.
