May 26, 2021: SB 231 McGuire California Transportation Commission, to transfer the Blues Beach property
This bill would authorize the department, upon terms, standards, and conditions approved by the California Transportation Commission, to transfer the Blues Beach property located in the unincorporated community of Westport in the County of Mendocino to a qualified nonprofit corporation, which the bill would define as a nonprofit corporation that is organized by one or more specified California Native American tribes for the purpose of environmental protection. The bill would authorize the department to enter into a cooperative agreement with a qualified nonprofit corporation that is transferred the Blues Beach property to provide funding for future maintenance of the property.
April 29, 2021: AB 379
AB 379, as amended, Gallagher. Wildlife conservation: conservation lands. This legislation presents significant concerns regarding use of public lands purchased with State taxpayer dollars being transferred for management or sale to sovereign governments.
Feb. 19, 2021: California tribes federal fee-to-trust applications to regain ancestral lands
It is unclear what problem or process this legislation is intended to solve. SB 712 interferes with Executive Office obligations. It clearly denies elected officials at all levels of government the right to take a position in policy matters to protect or benefit the local communities and all the State's citizens.
